The Shield of Unity is the most prized and powerful artifact belonging to the Nature Civilization.

It is currently lost somewhere in the Null Zone.

Details

The Shield withstanding a blast of Dragon fire.

The primary function of the Shield is that it allows the holder to summon and control any creature of the Nature Civilization, even King Almighty Colossus himself. It also significantly increases the holders mana.

A protective barrier.

Despite appearing to be made of wood, the Shield is very durable, being able to withstand a blast of dragon fire breath without taking any visible damage. It may also be able to create a protective spherical barrier around the holder, capable of withstanding multiple weapon and superpower based attacks from numerous powerful Nature Creatures, and in some cases redirecting the attack back at the assailant. However, the only time this was seen, the Shield's holder was riding on a Choten tech platform, and the barrier may have actually come from said platform. Although, there have been no instances of a Choten platform generating a barrier like this.

Like the other artifacts, the Shield automatically changes size to fit its user, but the handles on the inner side of the Shield must be grasped.

The five artifacts possess a very unique mana, because of this the artifacts are compelled to react to each other and can be used to locate each other like a compass.

Weaknesses

The Shield of Unity can only control Nature Civilization creatures, creatures of the other four Civilizations are immune to its power. Furthermore, the Shield can only exert total control over pure Nature Creatures, a hybrid of two Civilizations would have the potential to resist its control.

History

The Shield of Unity originally belonged to Almighty Colossus when he ruled over the Nature Civilization thousands of years ago. It is unknown who created the Shield or how it was created.

After the Veil was created, the Shield became the prize awarded to the winner of the Dueling Games held by the Nature Civilization. It was a highly desirable prizes as it compelled all other tribes to help whichever tribe possesses it.

During the events, it was stolen by Aqua Seneschal and while Ray and Tatsurion managed to keep him from leaving with it, they were unable to keep it themselves as it fell into the lands of the Darkness Civilization where it was found by Empress Megaria who added it to her collection.

The Shield was later stolen by Alakshmi Verma who gave it to The Choten.

The Choten used the Shield along with the other artifacts to awaken the Monarchs from their ten thousand year hibernation, but he lost the Shield when Gabe and Gargle caused him to be hit by an energy surge.

Gabe brought the Shield to the Duel Masters who used its power to preform the Veil Creation Spell and send the Monarchs to the creature realm. The Shield was then kept in the Duel Masters Temple.

After the Water Civilization unleashed a cataclysmic attack on Fire and Nature, the Duel Masters returned the Shield to Almighty Colossus so that he could rally the Nature tribes.

During the Monarchs summit, Almighty Colossus gave up the Shield of Unity as per protocol. When the Choten's people tried to steal the artifacts, the Duel Master were able to get the Shield.

The Shield was lost when the Monarchs collapsed.

Trivia

• The Shield of Unity was the third artifact to be returned to its Monarch.
  • Although, it was only mentioned that the Heart of Light was returned to Eternal Haven after Infernus, Kalima, and Almighty Colossus got their artifacts back. It's unknown when she actually got the Heart back, so this order may be incorrect.
