The Cloak of Dark Illusion is the most prized and powerful artifact belonging to the Darkness Civilization.

It is currently lost somewhere in the Null Zone.

Details

The primary function of the Cloak is that it allows the wearer to summon and control any creature of the Darkness Civilization, even Queen Kalima of the Infinite Dark herself. It also significantly increases the wearers mana.

The Cloak allows the user to take on the appearance of any type of creature (including humans) and it can turn the user invisible. Within the shade of the Cloak is a black hole which the wearer can use to pull things in, as well as trap them in a supposedly inescapable dark pocket dimension within the Cloak itself. The only known way to get out of this dark dimension is to use the Spell of Absolute Darkness to turn the darkness against itself. Additionally, the loose tendrils of the Cloak can lengthen and be used like prehensile tentacles.

The Cloak can also manipulate shadows to reflect the users will, it has no effect on the physical world though. However the shadow of the Cloak's wearer can act of its own accord outside of the wearers knowledge or control but in accordance with the wearers will, even being able to utilize the Cloaks power to summon Darkness creatures.

Like the other artifacts, the Cloak automatically changes size to fit its user.

The five artifacts possess a very unique mana, because of this the artifacts are compelled to react to each other and can be used to locate each other like a compass.

Weaknesses

The Cloak of Dark Illusion can only control Darkness Civilization creatures, creatures of the other four Civilizations are immune to its power. Furthermore, the Cloak can only exert total control over pure Darkness Creatures, a hybrid of two Civilizations would have the potential to resist its control.

The Cloak is easily the most dangerous of the 5 artifacts because it is actually semi-alive and can be quite mischievous and even aggressive, even toward the wearer's allies. The Cloak can negatively influence the emotions and decisions of those who wear it, and the longer the user wears it the more it will take over, eventually there will be nothing left of the user, only a dark void where their humanity used to be. Furthermore, the longer it is worn the harder it will be to take off, as some deep part of them clings to the Cloak. It can only be released when the wearer genuinely and completely desires to remove it. Though, this does not seem to be a problem for Darkness creatures who wear it.

History

The Cloak of Dark Illusion originally belonged to Queen Kalima when she ruled over the Darkness Civilization thousands of years ago. It is unknown who created the Cloak or how it was created.

After the Veil was created, the Cloak ended up in the possession of Empress Megaria who used its power to rule a majority of the Darkness realm.

The Cloak was later stolen by Alakshmi Verma who gave it to The Choten.

The Choten used the Cloak along with the other artifacts to awaken the Monarchs from their ten thousand year hibernation, but he lost the Cloak when Gabe and Gargle caused him to be hit by an energy surge.

Gabe brought the Cloak to the Duel Masters who used its power to preform the Veil Creation Spell and send the Monarchs to the creature realm. The Cloak was then kept in the Duel Masters Temple.

When Megaria came to the human realm, Allie used the Cloak against her and sent her back to creature realm, but the Cloak began to influence her and refused to come off. Allie was eventually able to remove the Cloak.

After the Darkness Civilization attempted to establish a military foothold in the human realm, Allie returned the Cloak to Kalima as a sign of good intentions and convinced Kalima to call off the invasion.

During the Monarchs summit, Kalima gave up the Cloak of Dark Illusion as per protocol. When the Choten's people tried to steal the artifacts, the Duel Master were able to get the Cloak.

The Cloak was lost when the Monarchs collapsed.

Trivia

• The Cloak of Dark Illusion was the second artifact to be returned to its Monarch.
  • Although, it was only mentioned that the Heart of Light was returned to Eternal Haven after Infernus, Kalima, and Almighty Colossus got their artifacts back. It's unknown when she actually got the Heart back, so this order may be incorrect.
• The Cloak of Dark Illusion and the Heart of Light are the only artifacts that do not have their respective civilizations logo on them.
